O céu de baunilha
e a memória
dos poentes
prometidos,
próximos o bastante
para tocar o silêncio
um do outro, na
última conversa honesta.
Amor,
uma lista
de coisas para fazer
de mãos dadas
segurando o fôlego:
uma conversa com as estrelas,
uma valsa com vagalumes,
um barquinho de papel
para seguir um mapa do tesouro,
na última conversa honesta.
the memory of
the sunsets we've
promised to
watch together,
sitting close enough
to touch each other's
silence, last time we
spoke honestly.
Love,
a list of things to do
holding hands
and breath:
conversing with stars,
dancing with fireflies,
a paper boat to follow
a treasure map,
last time we
spoke honestly.

Honesty can be a funny thing can it not? I appreciate the manner in which you have both viewed and written about the subject here.
ReplyDeleteThe recurring line: last time we spoke honestly, carries with it a weight of regret and sorrow at all that may have been lost, and believe me, we can all fill in the blanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful writing from the heart.
Ah que texto mais sublime!
ReplyDeleteAcho que fazia tempinho que não passava nesse cantinho que tanto amo. Perdoe-me pela ausência.
Adoro-te Kenia!
Beijos querida!
Hello.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, expressive writing.
I too agree with Kerry...the repetition of "last time we spoke honestly" is filled with sadness.
Thanks for sharing.

Ah, love. You are lovely.
ReplyDelete"Last time we spoke honestly..."
ReplyDeleteThe power of this phrase and its repetition make it clear that this little piece is a "trailer" for an epic tale.
This is a beautiful poem.

"na última conversa honesta", good verse. Loved the poem.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting experience to learn portuguese through poetry.
Un abrazo
To me this poem speaks of most precious things to do mingled with disappointment. "To touch each other's silence", "a paper boat to follow a treasure map" - love these images.
ReplyDeleteThis poem does speak of regret to me. One thinks sometime that speaking honestly is the best, but then again sometimes knowing that one has spoken honestly makes it harder when things don't work out.
ReplyDelete'Sitting close enough to touch each other's silence' - such a lovely phrase!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and poignant. "The last time we spoke honestly." Good one.
ReplyDeleteTalvez seja hora de alimentar um pouco de ilusão.
ReplyDeleteAn absolutely beautiful poem - bitter-sweet and full of longing. I love Vanilla sky and, especially:
ReplyDeletesitting close enough
to touch each other's
silence
The repeated, stanza-final last time we spoke honestly is arrow-sharp and, for me, so poignant...
I, too, love vanilla sky.......enjoyed this poem even more the second time through:)
ReplyDeleteOutstanding! I love it!
ReplyDelete"sitting close enough
ReplyDeleteto touch each other's
silence, last time we
spoke honestly."
...beautiful writing. :-)
Brava! I love this...
ReplyDelete"Last time we spoke honestly..." ooh!
ReplyDeleteI like "a paper boat to follow a treasure map"! The story of my life.
