É primavera
tenho sete anos
e estou no jardim
arrancando as asas das
joaninhas
para fazê-las ficarem.
I'm seven
I'm in the garden
pulling off ladybugs' wings
so they stay.

ReplyDeleteSurpreendente!
dude. ladybird is my power animal, er insect. no more pulling my wings off!
ReplyDelete(kiss on your wings)
The poor ladybirds. But as a child you may have not realised that it was wrong.
ReplyDeleteaww poor lady bugs but i understand the sentiment...smiles.
ReplyDeleteExpresses the well-intended yet convoluted logic of children. Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteI liked the poem until I got to the last line, then I loved it.
ReplyDeleteOh poor little bugs... this captures the carelessness of youth very well.
ReplyDeleteHer house is on fire and her children all alone! Didn't they sing that to you? Ladybug (bird in the UK) "Ladybug fly away home, your house is on fire and your children all alone!" You weren't the only child who did that (clearly) or there wouldn't be a nursery rhyme to stop you from hurting them as they're so healthy for a garden especially your roses. Clever poem and revealing ;-) Thanks, Gay
ReplyDeleteMy mother once told me: "Don't pick the wild flowers, they're more beautiful where they are growing. In a vase they will wilt soon."

ReplyDeleteLetting go of what we love is maybe the most difficult thing of all. This is sad and painful, Kenia. It says a lot about the human heart.
ReplyDeleteLike always, short and beautiful. I saw a little 7 year old girl in garden while reading.
ReplyDeleteNossa! Uma pequena obra-prima. Eu ia comentar o último, quando fui surpreendido por este aqui, realmente incrível.
