Cloud

Olhar o céu e
ver tantas estrelas
que não cabem nos olhos.

Vi o teu rosto
numa nuvem
passando rápido
no escuro.

E menti
deitada no quintal
dizendo que voltaria.

Apagou metade das luzes -
a mentira.
A nuvem.

To look at the sky
and find more stars
than your eyes can
hold.

I wanted to tell you
I saw your face in
a cloud passing fast
in the dark.

Lying in the yard
I lied to myself
saying you'd be back.

It erased half the starry sky -
the lie.
That cloud.

  1. How many times
do we cocoon ourselves in that cloud
dreaming of all these promising stars
    beyond

Thanks for being around Martin and for caring enough to leave a comment. ;)

  2. This was beautiful and evocative. Often, I see things in the stars, blink and they've changed into something else.

    Thanks - this was good.

  7. I love the duality of the cloud; in the world it can either block the sun and provide shade/relief or it can keep the rays from reaching us thereby darkening our world. Here it brought the face of the other person but it also erased the stars.
This was a really great piece Kenia! I can relate to it very well.
