#463

Numa janela
em frente à minha
observo esse homem engraçado,
costuramos noites de insônia juntos.

Dividimos um pedido
a uma estrela cadente certa vez
e fatias de bolo,
lágrimas em capítulos dramáticos
de livros bobos.

Uma noite ele me viu
e soube tudo sobre mim
pelos desenhos que
às vezes deixo na vidraça.
Foi só um minuto,
e ele soube.

In a window facing mine
I watch this funny man
we sew sleepless nights together.

We've shared a wish upon a star once
and slices of cake,
tears over dramatic chapters
in weepy books.

The other night he saw me
and he got to know all about me
from the drawings I had left on the panes.
It took him just a minute.

(To my friend Erick, on the occasion of his birthday)

  13. I like the idea of sewing sleepless nights together, and learning all there is to know about someone from the pictures they draw on misted glass. Very evocative.

By any other name would smell as sweet."
