o homem que espalhou
sentou-se no chão ao lado delas

e contou-lhes estórias
para que crescessem árvores
maciças.

para que enquanto árvores,
servissem de abrigo aos pássaros,
sombra aos homens.

para que enquanto palavras,
alimento para a poesia
faminta.

the man who sowed
sat on the ground
right beside them

he told them stories
so they could grow into
solid trees.

so that while trees
they sheltered birds
and served as shadow
to men

so that while words
they fed
starving poetry.

Compro revistas velhas
e faço delas estrelas
para o meu teto,
dou-lhes nomes simpáticos.

Eu escrevi palavras
que não irão muito longe.

Mas a pequena porção de céu
que eu tenho no meu quarto
pendurada em seu silêncio
observa curiosa o meu
tecer de sonhos

Eu teço sonhos
e dou de presente às estrelas.

I buy old magazines
and cut them into stars
I stick them to the ceiling
and call them friends.

Words I have written
that won't do much.

But the tiny portion of sky
in my bedroom
it hangs there in silence
and watches as I
weave dreams

I weave dreams
and give them to stars.

Temporariamente azuis
os olhos do homem
misturam-se ao mar

em ondas
quebram
sem receio

irrompem
em poesia

lavam a areia
dos meus olhos.

Temporarily blue
the man's eyes
mix with the sea

his waves
break
fearless

they arise as poetry
and wash the sand
off my eyes.

Minha amiga oculta | My Secret Santa

(Failed artwork by Kenia Cris)

It's time to reveal my Secret Santa and I thought of giving her a different present! Of course nobody will guess who she is just looking at my drawing, I'll really have to tell you people her name:

A Eliana escreve o Aqui...

Eliana writes Aqui... Entre! Nós together with Lu Maria, and thanks to both of them, it's a colorful and fun blog. I'm glad she was my secret Santa because I read her whole blog to discover more about her and I found out she's a wonderful woman! We share love for Johnny Depp and we're both English teachers! She's from São Paulo, she owns a cat and love of her life is called Rodrigo. Here's a love poem I'll dedicate to her and her beloved one:

Às vezes
eu só preciso
da luz
de olhos pequenos
e de um lugar seguro no universo
onde possa descansar um pouco.

Então encontro o seu abraço.

Sometimes
all I need
is the light
of tiny little eyes
and a place in the universe
where I can rest for a little while.

Then I meet your arms.

A noite quase silenciosa
tece para mim
um cobertor de estrelas e
canções de ninar solfejadas.

Silence all around
weaves me a blanket
of stars and hummed lullabies.

Uma coleção de
pedras
janelas
e poentes;

o melhor amigo de um homem
em seu coração,
em suas mãos;

seu lugar secreto,
inesquecível,
compartilhado
como lembrança.

Senhor,
que aja sempre um sorriso
para ele

(e um sorriso pra mim,)

um bramido do céu,
uma canção do mar
e o eterno sonhar,
o eterno sonhar.

A collection of
stones,
sunsets
and windows

a man's best friend
on his heart
on his palms

his secret
'unforgettables'
shared
like stories

oh Lord,
let there be always a smile for him
(and a smile for me)
the roar of the sky and
the purr of the sea

let there be
let there be.

O poema dos nossos medos
- sombras assustadoras
nas paredes de nossa infância
sobre a terra:

luz (!)
sobre nossas perguntas

- até ver nascer a resposta dos dias.

A poem about our fears
- frightening shadows
on the walls of our chilhood
on Earth:

light (!)
over our questions

- until we meet the answer of the days.

Certa vez
conheci um homem
do futuro.

Ele acenava
do fim de todos os meus dias
e me dava esperanças,
mas não pistas
do que havia na noite escura
para mim.

Me fazia sonhar com estrelas
ao meio-dia.

I once met a man
from the future.

He would greet me
from the end of all my days
and give me hope
but not hints
of what was it there for me
in the dead of night.

He would make me
dream of stars
at noon.

Não me arrependo
da vida que levei
: ela me trouxe até aqui
e iremos juntas
a outros lugares.

Eu gosto de viajar
no vento
e pertencer
à minha própria
vontade.

I don't regret
the life I've lived
: it has led me here
and we'll go together
to other places.

I enjoy
traveling in the wind
and belonging
to my own will.

Enche os bolsos
de estrelas
e acende a noite
debaixo do cobertor
para ler a vida
com um pouco mais de clareza
mesmo em segredo.

Se desliza o azul escuro
pela sua pele
e cabelos,
descansa os olhos
nos meus olhos
- sempre
teremos
um ao outro
e um jardim de nebulosas
e cometas.

Fill your pockets
with stars
and light up the night
under your blanket
to read life clearer
even doing so,
secretly.

If dark blue slides
over your hair and skin,
close your eyes
and rest in mine
- we'll always have
each other
and a garden of
comets
and nebulas.

Meu tesouro,
escondi
longe
da superfície,
longe do continente,
longe de toda a gente
que pode ficar pelo caminho.

I've hidden my treasure
far away from the surface,
the continent
and all the people
that might be left behind.

Perdendo o chão
é que me descubro alada
- E então leio a vida no vento.

Missing the ground
I discover myself winged
- and I read life on the wind.

Esse poema
é pra te dizer
que você pode me perder.

A qualquer momento.

Posso parecer forte
como um leão
mas na verdade,
sou tão frágil
quanto
um dente-de-leão.

Tenho medo do vento
no rosto,

de ser despedaçada
por um sopro,

de ser só uma lembrança
até cair no esquecimento.

Você pode me perder
a qualquer momento.

This is a poem
to inform you
that you can lose me.

Anytime now.

You may think I'm
as strong as a lion
but truth is
I'm as fragile as
a dandelion.

I'm afraid of wind on my face,
I'm afraid of being shattered
by a blow,

I'm afraid of becoming just a memory
and then
being soon forgotten.

Don't take me for granted.

Perdeu o ciso,
o sono
e o juízo;
perdeu o melhor amigo,
a hora para o trabalho,
e um botão da camisa favorita
mas ganhou um amor alegre
e verdadeiro,
para justificar-lhe
o riso
e a vida.

She lost her wisdom tooth,
sleep
and judgement;
she lost her best friend,
a button from her favorite shirt
and got late to work,
but she got a true merry happy love
to justify smiles
and life.

Eu sinto falta de
ser criança.
Crescemos e abandonamos
nossos pequenos universos,
criamos galáxias-fantasma.

A infância deveria ser
um planeta amigo
para onde todos nós
pudéssemos voar
quando ficássemos sem ar
no mundo adulto.

I miss being a child.
We grow up and abandon
our small universes,
we turn them into
'ghost galaxies'.

Childhood should be
a friendly planet
where we could always
fly to
whenever we
had breathing difficulties
in adult world.

A última vez em que nos vimos,
ambos estávamos com pressa.
Trocamos
sorrisos passageiros,
abraços apressados
e umas poucas frases curtas.
Eu teria segurado você
por um pouco mais de tempo
se soubesse
que aquela última vez
seria 'a' última vez.

Last time I saw you
we were both in a hurry.
We exchanged
fleeting smiles,
hushed hugs
and a few short sentences.
I would have kept you
with me
if I knew 'that' last time
would be 'the' last time.
