Não façamos do amor
um segredo
escondido
sob nossos pés.

Há segredos suficiente
no mundo
em cofres,
armários,
nas paredes dos quartos.

Que amar seja leve.
Que amor seja você e eu.

Let's not make love
a secret
hidden
underneath our feet.

There are enough
secrets in the world already
in safe boxes,
closets,
all over bedrooms walls.

Let love flow free.
Let love be you and me.

Temporariamente azuis
os olhos do homem
misturam-se ao mar

em ondas
quebram
sem receio

irrompem
em poesia

lavam a areia
dos meus olhos.

Temporarily blue
the man's eyes
mix with the sea

his waves
break
fearless

they arise as poetry
and wash the sand
off my eyes.

Não há nada de errado
com as suas
ou as minhas palavras.

É o calor
que me deixa meio tonta,
é o calor que te deixa meio rude,
que nos deixa com sede
quando não há água,
não há tempo,
não há nós.

There's nothing wrong
with your words
or mine.

It's he heat these days
that makes me dizzy,

it's the heat that makes you harsh
and makes us both thirsty
when there is no water,
no time,
no 'us'.

Minha amiga oculta | My Secret Santa

(Failed artwork by Kenia Cris)

It's time to reveal my Secret Santa and I thought of giving her a different present! Of course nobody will guess who she is just looking at my drawing, I'll really have to tell you people her name:

A Eliana escreve o Aqui...

Eliana writes Aqui... Entre! Nós together with Lu Maria, and thanks to both of them, it's a colorful and fun blog. I'm glad she was my secret Santa because I read her whole blog to discover more about her and I found out she's a wonderful woman! We share love for Johnny Depp and we're both English teachers! She's from São Paulo, she owns a cat and love of her life is called Rodrigo. Here's a love poem I'll dedicate to her and her beloved one:

Às vezes
eu só preciso
da luz
de olhos pequenos
e de um lugar seguro no universo
onde possa descansar um pouco.

Então encontro o seu abraço.

Sometimes
all I need
is the light
of tiny little eyes
and a place in the universe
where I can rest for a little while.

Then I meet your arms.

Truth is deeper than a smile
and they may not hang out together very often.

Uma lembrança de você
me alcança no olho do furacão
e me convida a sonhos floridos.

A small thought of you
reaches me in the eye of the tornado
and invites me to dream over flowers.

Feche os olhos
e apaixone-se
antes que o amor perca o sentido

antes que esse
e aquele tipo de beleza
percam as cores

antes de nos tornamos
tristes imagens reproduzidas
em massa.

Close your eyes
and fall in love
before it loses meaning

before this
and that kind of beauty
fade

before we all turn into
sad silk screenings.

Uma coleção de
pedras
janelas
e poentes;

o melhor amigo de um homem
em seu coração,
em suas mãos;

seu lugar secreto,
inesquecível,
compartilhado
como lembrança.

Senhor,
que aja sempre um sorriso
para ele

(e um sorriso pra mim,)

um bramido do céu,
uma canção do mar
e o eterno sonhar,
o eterno sonhar.

A collection of
stones,
sunsets
and windows

a man's best friend
on his heart
on his palms

his secret
'unforgettables'
shared
like stories

oh Lord,
let there be always a smile for him
(and a smile for me)
the roar of the sky and
the purr of the sea

let there be
let there be.

O poema dos nossos medos
- sombras assustadoras
nas paredes de nossa infância
sobre a terra:

luz (!)
sobre nossas perguntas

- até ver nascer a resposta dos dias.

A poem about our fears
- frightening shadows
on the walls of our chilhood
on Earth:

light (!)
over our questions

- until we meet the answer of the days.

Porque eu precisava escrever algo,
qualquer coisa,
eu levei minhas canetas
e blocos de notas
até a Cafeteria mais próxima
e sentei-me lá
tomando café,
folheando um livro de arte
em busca de inspiração,
procurando as palavras
que eu não tenho,
as palavras que
os artistas nunca precisaram,
inventando estórias
para rostos cansados,
finais felizes
para corações partidos.

Because I needed to write
something
anything
I took my pens and pad
to the nearest café
and sat there
- sipping coffee,
flicking through an art book
for inspiration,
searching for the words
I don't have,
the words artists never needed,
making up stories
for weary faces,
happy endings
for broken hearts.

Um poema
para preencher
os espaços vazios
dentro de mim
e de você,

para embalar
nossos sonhos
e diminuir a importância
das pedras,
das muralhas,
dos caminhos.

Um poema
e alguns rabiscos -
para compor
a imagem de
leveza onírica
que a vida
tem para nós.

A poem to
to occupy
all the empty space
inside you
and me,

to cradle
us till we fall asleep
and diminish the importance
of stones,
walls
and roads not taken.

A poem
and doodles
to compose
the light
and oneiric
image we have of
life.

(Both the drawing and poem were made while playing with Thiago's sketchbook on the weekend, just because I wanted to give him a keepsake of an ordinary day)

Não me arrependo
da vida que levei
: ela me trouxe até aqui
e iremos juntas
a outros lugares.

Eu gosto de viajar
no vento
e pertencer
à minha própria
vontade.

I don't regret
the life I've lived
: it has led me here
and we'll go together
to other places.

I enjoy
traveling in the wind
and belonging
to my own will.

Enche os bolsos
de estrelas
e acende a noite
debaixo do cobertor
para ler a vida
com um pouco mais de clareza
mesmo em segredo.

Se desliza o azul escuro
pela sua pele
e cabelos,
descansa os olhos
nos meus olhos
- sempre
teremos
um ao outro
e um jardim de nebulosas
e cometas.

Fill your pockets
with stars
and light up the night
under your blanket
to read life clearer
even doing so,
secretly.

If dark blue slides
over your hair and skin,
close your eyes
and rest in mine
- we'll always have
each other
and a garden of
comets
and nebulas.

If it's not that light in your eyes,
which fills in all my blanks,
I have no idea what makes me infinite.

Você me afeta
com o impacto

perfeito,
ar rarefeito
condensado
para os meus pulmões,
sopro da felicidade

mais pura
para a minha alma.

You have an effect on me,
an impact,
thin air
made thick to go
into my lungs,
a blow of the purest happiness
to go with my soul.

Os olhos da maturidade são outros.
Eles ignoram as areias do tempo.
Um pôr-do-sol
transforma-se em vários
enquanto observam.
Os dias acumulam-se
nas paredes
da casa em lembranças
que não cabem na cabeça.
Falam sem pressa,
caminham sem pressa,
sorriem demoradamente
- ressignificando-se.

Mature eyes are different.
They ignore the sands of time,
A sunset can easily become several ones.
Days drift together
on the walls
made into memories that
don't fit the head.
They speak in no hush,
they walk in no hush,
they linger a smile
- remeaning themselves.

Perdendo o chão
é que me descubro alada
- E então leio a vida no vento.

Missing the ground
I discover myself winged
- and I read life on the wind.

She used to walk above the clouds
as if living were always light,
as if our time on Earth weren't
brief enough
as if keeping her feet on the ground
were the only hard work to do.

(This is the way I'll always remember you.)

ainda seguiremos
cada um o seu próprio caminho solitário.

I fired my guardian angel,
now he's just a friendly monster.
I promised never to forget him
and he promised not to live under my bed.
He might have to work for food
and I might have to work for care and attention.
We might run into each other
around any corner...
I know we'll smile
and share past memories,
but after a long-lasting hug
we'll follow our lonely ways.

Haiku #5

Brilham seus olhos -
na madrugada, eles são
meus vagalumes.

When your eyes shine
in the dark of night, they're
fireflies to me.
