Sentado com fantasmas | Sitting with ghosts

Está no jeito como vivemos
nossas vidas
e na posição dos nossos
fantasmas
à mesa.

Damos as mãos,
fazemos nossas preces
e comemos juntos
de um menu de medos
e angústia.

Comemos juntos e falamos
de sonhos estúpidos,
dos dias que vem lentos.

Eles riem.
Nós rimos.

Nem sempre entendemos a piada,
mas rir parece a coisa certa a fazer
quando estamos sentandos
com fantasmas.

It's all in the way we live our lives
and the way we sit our ghosts
at the dining table.

We hold hands,
say our prayers
and eat together
from a choice of fear and angst.

We eat together and chat
about nonsensical dreams
of days to come.

They laugh.
We laugh.

We don't always get the joke,
still it seems the right thing to do
when you're
sitting there with ghosts.

  2. Oi Kenia

Adorei o poema.

    beijos.

I love your your ability to write in both languages. You have an amazing talent. I enjoyed this poem to as it hints to so many different things. I look at the ghosts as kept secrets.

  14. Oh I so love this poem, and the idea that our loved ones are still sitting around the table with us. They must so love it when we tell the old stories. I can see them laughing. Beautiful poem, and the photo is amazing......
