Thou shall never be morning

longe de acertar as palavras:
erro há oitenta e dois poemas

mas penso em você com carinho

e gostava sinceramente de tê-lo por perto

em noites como esta

em que o silêncio rouba todos os galos.

far from getting words right:
been making the same mistake for eighty-two poems

I think about you tenderly, though
and I sincerely wish I had you close

in nights like these
when silence steals all roosters.

Eu grito com o silêncio,
ele me ignora.

Deitamos juntos no sofá,
estou cansada.

Ele se coloca sobre mim
como um cobertor.

- na primavera me sufoca,
no inverno esconde o meu desamparo.

Isso é o mais perto do amor
que tenho estado.

I yell at silence,
it ignores me.

We lay together on the sofa,
I'm exhausted,

it covers me like a blanket

- in the spring it's suffocating,
in the winter it hides my hopelessness.

It's the closest of love I've been to these days.

Quando o mundo parece
grande demais,
eu sonho
com o silêncio possível
no ventre da minha mãe,
de volta ao início.

When I feel small
I dream of the silence
one can have
back inside a mother's womb,
back to the beginning.

Ouvi meu coração
tiquetaqueando
até as horas mergulharem
no mais profundo silêncio
e meus olhos se encherem de noite.

I listened to
my heart
tick-tocking
until the hours
dived in the deepest silence ever
and my eyes were filled with the night.

Hoje
eu acordei pequena
e desamparada.

Vesti
um sorriso apagado
e um silêncio que
ninguém entende.

Não ando muito na moda.

I woke up
little and helpless
this morning.

I put on silence
and a faded smile no one understands.

I don't have very good
fashion taste.

Às vezes
eu queria ser
como as pessoas de ferro
ao invés de ser
de vidro -
tão trasparente
que qualquer um pode ver
através de mim,
tão frágil
que qualquer um pode
me quebrar
facilmente.

Sometimes
I wish I were more like
the iron-made people
instead of being
so clean-cut glassy
that anyone can see through me,
so fragile
that anyone can easily
break me to pieces.

Me ocorre
sempre no momento errado
que eu poderia
ter mudado o rumo das coisas
no momento certo
se não tivesse me calado.

It's always at the wrong time
I notice I could have changed
the way things happened
at the right time
if I hadn't preferred silence.

Há dias
em que eu acordo
fraca.
Olho o meu rosto no espelho
e posso jurar que
não sobreviverei
a outro dia solitário.
Caminho entre as pessoas
invisível,
como um fantasma,
visito lugares
e olhos
dos quais sentiria falta
se não pudesse vê-los
outra vez.
Caminho.
Sozinha.
Sempre.

Now and then
I wake up weak.
I look at my face on the mirror
and I can swear
I won't survive
another lonely day.
I walk among people
invisible,
as a ghost-to-be,
I visit places and eyes
I'd miss
if I didn't make it
to the dawn.
I'm always walking,
always
alone.

Eu penso no silêncio
dos rostos que passam,
atribuo-lhes adjetivos

e estórias.

Deve haver algum tipo de conforto
na espera,
deve haver algo
além de um copo de vinho
que nos mantenha ali sentados
e algo maior que um olhar
para nos colocar de pé.

Será que reconheceremos um ao outro
no meio de tantos rostos?

I'm always thinking of the silence
in the faces of passers-by.
I attribute them adjectives
and stories.

There must be some sort of comfort
in waiting,
there must be something
beyond a glass of wine
to keep us sitting and waiting
and something more meaningful than
a glance
to make us stand.

What if we don't recognize each other's
among so many faces?

As palavras estão perdidas
para os corações partidos.
As palavras estão perdidas.

Words are lost
for lovers' broken hearts.
Words are lost.

A palavra que me move
é a mesma que me paralisa -
A vida dificilmente explica a si mesma.
Suportamos a sombra da noite
porque confiamos no nascer de um novo dia.
O movimento natural do universo
ensina que a efemeridade
é a única coisa persistente.

The word that makes me move
is the same word that keeps me still -
life hardly explains itself.
We face the shadow of the night
waiting for a new day to come.
The natural movement of the universe
teaches that ephemerity is the only
persistent thing.

Sempre o silêncio,
sempre um oceano entre nós,
sempre a saudade,
e os dias nascem e morrem,
e eu me perco em memórias.

Always the silence,
always an ocean between us,
always the missing,
and days begin and end,
and I lose myself in memories.

Inferno é o silêncio
dos olhos
e o inverno do coração.

Hell is the silence
of eyes
and the winter of hearts.

Uma centena de coisas sussurradas,
entre canções, estórias e sonhos.

São as coisas pequenas e belas
que se movem em silêncio
e nós as procuramos sempre no lugar errado.

One hundred things whispered
among songs, stories and dreams.
It's the beautiful little things
that move in silence
and we're always searching for them in the wrong places.

Apesar de todas as palavras e pensamentos
em minha cabeça,
hoje o meu coração acordou cheio de silêncios.

In spite of all the words and thoughts
in my head,
my heart woke up full of silence today.

Há momentos na vida
em que me sinto completamente
convencida
de que poderíamos viver
de silêncios e olhares.

There are times in life
I'm completely convinced
that we could live from
silence and gazes.

#12 Silêncio │Silence│

(Girl at the window, Dalí, 1925)

Não espero que meus amigos me compreendam por completo
-Eu sou um enigma até pra mim mesma.
Na maior parte do tempo
eu quero estar em muitos lugares diferentes,
mas às vezes,
por algumas horas,
outras vezes,
por dias,
eu preciso de silêncio.

│I don't hope my friends understand me on the whole
-I'm a mystery even to myself.
Most of the time
I want to be in many different places,
but sometimes,
just for some hours,
and other times,
just for some days,
I feel I need silence.│
