O peso das coisas
imutáveis
inevitáveis
desgasta-me os ossos.

Quando nego-lhes a existência
ainda preciso de alívio
para a dor que infligem
ao meu corpo.

Fosse minha a escolha
teria sido concreto
mas foi o desejo de alguém
que fosse humano

- aceitei o desafio.

The weight of fixed
Unavoidable things
Wastes my bones

When I deny their existence
I still need drugs
To relieve the pain they inflict to my body

If I were to choose
I’d like to be made concrete
Was it someone else’s will
I was made human

- I take the challenge.

  5. Eles não usam black-tie e não entendem nada de poesia.

Eles só sentem - e isso também é carismático.

Lindíssimo o poema. Achei muito momentâneo e pessoal...

    Te encontro.

  10. First of all, I have to complement you on your beautiful blog. It's lovely, full of lovely words and beautiful pictures. It's gorgeous.

Ok, the poem is deep. I had to read it several times and think about it. It sounds like the writer lives in physical pain and is questioning "why" but it doesn't matter because the writer is taking the challenge just to live and go on--without pity.

    Well done.

  11. This speaks to me in a profound way.
I have tried to make myself stone. It has failed. My heart feels heavy in my chest sometimes. But it is all flesh, all flesh.

Alas, I don't speak Portuguese but I read this piece aloud, trying to emulate the sounds, and the music moves me ("ao meu corpo").

  16. Haunting. This makes me think of the tin man from the Wizard of Oz-- made of tin, not concrete, but when sometimes I've wished I could stop feeling, I realize it's what makes life worth living. The tin man might say be careful what you wish for.
