o minuto que antecede
a palavra errada
deveria permitir-nos
dobrar o tempo
e caminhar entre as pessoas

beijar-lhes a face
amar-lhes os olhos
a pele, os dedos
e cabelos.

0 minuto que antecede
a palavra errada
deveria aproximar-nos
dos mistérios da vida
selar-nos os lábios
acalmar-nos o coração

- isso não acontece.

the minute before the wrong word
should permit us
fold time and walk
among people

and kiss their faces
and love their eyes
and skin
and fingers
and hair.

the minute before
the wrong word
should bring us close
to the mysteries of life
seal our lips
and calm our hearts

- it never happens.

Houve uma época em que,
ansiando por companhia,
eu passava algumas horas
sentada à porta
procurando por
vaga-lumes
e estrelas cadentes
na escuridão.

There were times
when
craving for company
I'd spend an evening hour
on the front steps
searching the darkness for
fireflies and falling stars.

Eu me perdi outra vez -
entre pessoas,
sóis,
canções
e palavras.

Eu perdi você outra vez -
entre sorrisos,
estrelas,
olhares
e estradas.

I lost track of myself again -
among people,
suns,
songs
and words.

I lost track of you again -
among smiles,
stars,
looks
and roads.

É triste que
as coisas perdidas
adquiram o valor
inestimável
que as coisas regulares
não têm.

It's sad
that regular things
are so cheap
while
lost things
are priceless.

Esse poema
é pra te dizer
que você pode me perder.

A qualquer momento.

Posso parecer forte
como um leão
mas na verdade,
sou tão frágil
quanto
um dente-de-leão.

Tenho medo do vento
no rosto,

de ser despedaçada
por um sopro,

de ser só uma lembrança
até cair no esquecimento.

Você pode me perder
a qualquer momento.

This is a poem
to inform you
that you can lose me.

Anytime now.

You may think I'm
as strong as a lion
but truth is
I'm as fragile as
a dandelion.

I'm afraid of wind on my face,
I'm afraid of being shattered
by a blow,

I'm afraid of becoming just a memory
and then
being soon forgotten.

Don't take me for granted.

Adormecerei sobre a vida,
se não encontrar alguém com quem
passar a noite acordada.

I'll sleep this lifetime
if I don't find anyone to
spend the night awake with.

Eu me lembro dos dias quentes
no parque de diversões.
As flores no meu cabelo,
seus sorrisos mais bobos,
nós dois na roda gigante
torcendo para que o tempo parasse
toda vez que a gente chegava lá no alto.

I remember hot days
at the amusement park.
Flowers on my hair,
your silliest laughter,
both of us riding the big wheel
praying time stopped
every time we reached the top.

Eu não posso dizer
com orgulho
que faço sempre a coisa certa.
Eu cometo erros.
Muitos.
Graças a Deus.

I can't say I'm proud
to do the right thing
all the time.
I make mistakes.
Lots of them.
Thanks God.

O amor perfeito
é uma invenção livresca
devorada lentamente pelas traças.

Perfect love
is a bookish conception
slowly devoured by bookworms.

Às vezes me orgulho
de recusar o próximo passo.

A covardia prudente
pode impedir uma pessoa
de cometer um engano eterno.

Now and then
I'm proud of myself
for refusing the next step.

Careful cowardice
can prevent a person
from making
an everlasting mistake.

De tudo o que se diz
e tudo o que se faz,
sem olhar pra trás,
não se aprende coisa alguma.

Of all the things said
and all the things done,
if one doesn't look backwards,
he'll never learn anything.

Eu perdi muitas coisas
mas nunca perdi um sapato.
Assim passou
o príncipe encantado
e a grande chance
de um conto de fadas.

I've lost many things
never a shoe.
That's how
prince charming
and the big opportunity
of living a fairy tale were gone.

#13 De coisas perdidas │Of lost things│

Eu deveria ter ouvido a minha mãe pelo menos uma vez -
quando ela me aconselhou a ser mais organizada.
Teria evitado perder 4 ou 5 brincos
(os que eu mais gostava),
um botão em forma de girassol
- presente do meu melhor amigo -,
algumas contas perto da data de vencimento,
livros,
meu anel favorito,
sombrinhas,
algum dinheiro,
chaveiros,
no outro,
desapareceram.
Ficamos órfãos.
Eu queria ter podido dar mais de mim,
mas me perdi também,
e esqueci de marcar o caminho com migalhas.
Só agora estou me encontrando novamente.

│I should have listened to my mother at least once,
when she advised me to be more organized.
I would have avoided losing 4 or 5 single pieces of earrings
(the ones I liked the most),
a very special sunflower-shaped button
- a present from my best friend -,
some bills near deadline for payment,
books,
my favorite ring ever,
umbrellas,
some money,
key chains,
a bunch of pictures,
notes for a knights' novel,
several pens and mechanical pencils,
a tiny elephant piece from my collection,
postcards I never sent to friends,
phone numbers on small slips of paper,
jigsaw puzzles pieces,
CDs left out of their cases,
bus tickets
among other things that have also lost place in my memory.
But among all the things I lost,
the ones I miss most
are some friendly faces I may never see again.
We lose sight of people unintentionally.
One minute they're right there by your side,
the next,
they are missing.
We're orphans.
I wish I could have done better,
but I lost myself, too
and totally forgot to leave bread crumbles to help me find my way back home
- It took me a little long,
but I found myself again.│
